Pastor's Prayer Ministry

Dear Gettysburg U.M.C. Family and Friends,

Over my years of ministry, I have sought to lift up the congregation in prayer on a daily basis. This has been a real joy and honor, let alone a  blessing. I have done so by not only praying for those on the "prayer  list," but also by focusing on particular families on particular days. For  example, on the 1st day of the month, I pray for those whose last name  begins with "A." On the 2nd day of the month, I pray for those whose last  name beings with "B" and so forth. We will indicate the week's prayer focus  (based on this means) in each bulletin. This week, July 11 - 17th, I will  pray as follows: 11th - "K", 12th - "L", 13th - "M", 14th - "N", 15th - "O"  , 16th - "P", 17th - "Q". If you have specific prayer requests, you are  welcome to contact me with this information. (Please be assured that it  will be kept confidential.) You may contact me at 334-3032 (O);  334-1821(h); 404-1162(cell). Thank you.

In Christ's Service, Jay Zimmerman

Large tubes of toothpaste are requested by the CONFERENCE UMW to help complete health kits. We need these items by July 18th to take along to the school of missions. Please be sure that the expiration date is current and within 6 months of today's date. A box in the hallway is available for your donations. Thank you for your support!

Ministry bulletin board. This is the Basic Lay Speaker's Class with an
emphasis on discovering your spiritual gifts and implementing them in the local church.

Regular and large print Bibles are available at the back of the church for your use.
We invite you to use one to follow along in the reading of today's scripture.

PEW ENVELOPES! You may have noticed the pew envelopes and on top of the mission can. These envelopes are to be used for donations to the church that are not covered by your regular envelopes. Some examples are mission can donations, special collections, special service offerings, etc. If the envelopes are used, we will be able to add that record to your giving statement. Please be sure to put your envelope number and/or name on the envelope so we know to which account it should be recorded. If you have any questions, please see Fred Myers or Connie Thompson.

Tape Ministry - Our members in nursing homes and those unable to get to church and now able to hear our Sunday services and feel a part of the church congregation. If you know of a shut-in and would like to take a tape to them, please call Ed and Charlotte Moore @ 334-1716. We owe David Schmidt a debt of gratitude for helping us in recording these tapes.

Newsletter Thoughts for July and August

The summer is rapidly moving on with transitions of various natures all around! As a result, we are a little off schedule with our July/August  issue of The Vision. For this, we apologize! However, so that we may communicate with each other about the many aspects of our summer ministry, we ask you to note the following:  **The July/August newsletter will be brief in nature. Articles (July/August and early September) are due on Wednesday, July 14th at 9:00 a.m. Our mailing will take place within a week of that date.

** For the September/October newsletter, articles are due in the church office by August 20th.
Thank you!

REMINDER: Please remember to call or e-mail the office by Tuesday prior to the Sunday you are sponsoring bulletins or altar flowers. Phone or mail reminders are no longer being issued - that information is now part of the newsletter. All announcements to be placed in the Weekly Vision must also be in the office by Tuesday. Thank you.
