Thought for the Week

"What if God should place a diamond in your hand and tell you to inscribe on
it a sentence, which should be read at the Last Day, and shown there an
index of your thoughts and feelings! What care, what caution would you
exercise in the selection. (The diamond is your child.)"

Opportunities for Ministry

Mark your calendars!! The Mother Appreciation banquet will be right after
church on May 16th.  More details above.

Church Women United May Friendship Day will be held her on Friday, May 7th with lunch at noon and program at 1:00 pm. Cost of lunch is $4.00. Reservations are due by May 3rd and should be made to Genny Reaver. All women are invited.

On Thursday, June 3rd, our church will be hosting Prevention Health Screenings again this year to offer 5 important life saving tests. On that day, they will offer you a stroke/carotid artery screening to assess your risk of a stroke. There will be two other vascular tests available, an osteoporosis test and a screening for respirator related diseases. There is a minimal cost for the tests ranging from $25 - $40. The results are sent directly to you and you are referred back to your own doctor. Call 1-800-446-0925 for more information. Space is limited so register early.

Are you tired of telemarketing calls and don't have internet access? Call the office and have them put you on the national and state "do not call" lists. All that is needed is your permission and telephone number and you should see telephone telemarketing drop within one month.

PEW ENVELOPES! You may have noticed the pew envelopes and on top of the mission can. These envelopes are to be used for donations to the church that are not covered by your regular envelopes. Some examples are mission can donations, special collections, special service offerings, etc. If the envelopes are used, we will be able to add that record to your giving statement. Please be sure to put your envelope number and/or name on the envelope so we know to which account it should be recorded. If you have any questions, please see Fred Myers or Connie Thompson.

PEACE CAMP 2004 - will be held June 21 - 25 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the
Gettysburg Area Middle School (Cafeteria). All children ages 5 - 12 are
welcome. Cost for the camp is a nominal fee of $5 per family.
Registration forms are on the hallway bulletin board.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL registration has been extended to TODAY. Please see Lauren for registration forms. There are plenty of teachers this year who have volunteered so please be sure to register your children, your sister's children, your brother's children and your neighbors' children and any other children you can find. REGISTER SOON!

Regular and large print Bibles are available at the back of the church for your use.
We invite you to use one to follow along in the reading of today's scripture.

Tape Ministry - Our members in nursing homes and those unable to get to church and now able to hear our Sunday services and feel a part of the church congregation. If you know of a shut-in and would like to take a tape to them, please call Ed and Charlotte Moore @ 334-1716. We owe David Schmidt a debt of gratitude for helping us in recording these tapes.

REMINDER: Please remember to call or e-mail the office by Tuesday prior to the Sunday you are sponsoring bulletins or altar flowers. Phone or mail reminders are no longer being issued - that information is now part of the newsletter. All announcements to be placed in the Weekly Vision must also be in the office by Tuesday. Thank you.
